There are only two water pumps. The long one (early) with small bolt pattern, and the short one (1981-up) with wide bolt pattern.

Ok so i must need the long one then..
but will that throw out my alternator inlinment?
My biggest problem is the alternator shaft the pulley goes on but only has a few mm on thread to try get the nut on

The alignment for the two water pumps is identical. 1) Long pump, long pulley 2) Short pump, short pulley. They each use a unique fan too. So get the set: pump + pulley + fan.

Yes, it seems no one knows which alternator actually fits his kit. Some kind of Bosch apparently. Not a Datsun alternator.

Most alternators have a 15mm shaft, im not sure what your problem is with the fitment. If its an alignment problem then just make spacers for the bracket
