I have an '84 B120 [1200 ute] and there are no wires in the dash loom for the tacho.

That's the difficult way to do it -- since the same b/w wire already runs into the dash, why add wires to go out and splice into it near the coil, when you can do it right in the dash loom?

I don't see any spare BW wires in my dash loom except for the one to the "cooler"

Right. It's not a "spare" wire, it is a main wire which you will tap into (cut it, and attach it to the tacho loop). You can tap into it near the IGN switch (easiest to find the wire as it is uncovered there).
![]() The factory already cut the wire on a coupe/sedan harness. ![]() The BW wires passes directly above the tachometer/clock spot. It goes from the IGN switch all the wire out to the coil. ![]()

I was thinking about this. If you connect near the coil, it lengthens the coil feed wire 3x as long as stock. Which will cut down on voltage a little bit. Others have done it and it works, but I'd connect right near the tachometer. It's neater with less side effects and less extra cables in the engine bay.

Thanks DD. That will be one mystery solved. I will look for the BW wire for the ignition, cut it and tap into the tachometer. Does it matter which order the wires from the tachometer connect to the cut BW wire in my dash harness?

And also, where is the exact location of the wire to tap into?

I cannot find the BW wire near the tach. It is only at the fuse box, ignition switch, and at the plug that connects to the engine harness

Yes, the wire goes between all three but you have to unwrap the harness to see. You can tap into it near the IGN switch (easiest to find the wire as it is uncovered there).

Riddle me this......why is there 2 blue wires to the cigarette lighter? Where does the second go?
Also, the diagram shows one single green wire to the flasher unit but the flasher unit has two connectors on it ![]() You can view topic.
