Good question jeff. It doesn't make any sense to me. So I look in the back of the book at the wiring diagram and it is the OPTION illuminated cigalighter. My ute only had the standard lighter. I guess just leave one blue wired disconnected?

Riddle solved !!
I did not know an illuminated one even existed. However on my aftermarket replacement cigarette lighter there is a little tab for an electrical connector on the brass housing. I also wonder what that is for. Attach file: $_57.JPG (77.62 KB)

That's for an earth. 1200 dash frame is grounded so it doesn't need it.

I remembering reading in the Tech Wiki that it grounds through the dash so I am happy you confirmed this for me.
I guess the extra earth is for other model Datsuns. Thanks again for the help.....until next time I find another wiring anomaly.
