Right. It's not a "spare" wire, it is a main wire which you will tap into (cut it, and attach it to the tacho loop). You can tap into it near the IGN switch (easiest to find the wire as it is uncovered there).

The factory already cut the wire on a coupe/sedan harness.

The BW wires passes directly above the tachometer/clock spot. It goes from the IGN switch all the wire out to the coil.

I don't see any spare BW wires in my dash loom except for the one to the "cooler"

That's the difficult way to do it -- since the same b/w wire already runs into the dash, why add wires to go out and splice into it near the coil, when you can do it right in the dash loom?

I have an '84 B120 [1200 ute] and there are no wires in the dash loom for the tacho.
As previously advised, you need to run a pair of wires from the tacho. to the points side of the ballast resistor.
One wire connects to the resistor, the other to the wire that was previously on the ballast resistor.
You are simply extending the ignition wire back into the cabin, through the tacho. then back to the ballast resistor.
As a security measure, you could put a hidden toggle switch in series with these wires to give you a KILL SWITCH
There should be short wire on the rear of the tacho. with a female bullet connector on it.
That plugs into the main instruments to pick up 12V, just like the clock did.

As long as you have the Fusible Link system intact it should not catch fire.

Alright much appreciated guys. That solves the mystery about the tachometer and the "cooler".

What about the rest though? Can you guys confirm if the LW short wire or the LW long wire goes to the heater? - that seems like a simple one that you guys might know. Does the black wire or the LW connect to the heater control switch and where does the other of the two wires go to?

Also is the Speed switch amplifier connected correctly? Should I even have it installed since I am not using the factory emissions components or factory carburetor?

Is the room lamp connection the LR wire I found in my harness?

Where is my wires for my hazard unit?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I am going to explode.

I just don't want to turn the key on my ute for the first time and have it burst into flames and burn to the ground.

Also where the hell are my wires to the tachometer?
That is an older tachometer. The one for newer models doesn't have the current loop wires, but a single signal wire, like a typical aftermarket tachometer.

And besides, 1200 utes didn't have a factory tachometer option. Sedan/coupe will have a place to plug in that old tachometer.

See Tachometer Wiring for information on using older 1200 tacho in newer 1200 ute.

The diagram is for 1978 and your ute is 1980. Several changes may have taken place.

24013-G1270 is Instrument Panel harness for export models, exact year range unknown.

What in the hell is the "cooler" [no. 25]?
He says "cooler" means Aircon, but he's never seen it installed , mmm.
