my July '74 120Y (4 door sedan) has damaged drip rails and rust in the corners of the roof, If I melted out the leadwiping and buzz out all the spotwelds and replace the roof skin with one off a healthier roof , should that fix most of the problems?

saw TD3 today, looks like the plan will work, I need to support the bodyshell in any special way if I was to do it myself?, do NOT want the bodyshell dancing about while I had the roof skin off...

Anyone got an exploded view pic of how the shell goes together? Kinda curious as I don't really want to replace the whole roof if it's worse than I thought...

Ive seen guys replace the roof. They cut the pillars about 1/2 way like this, then weld the replacement on

KB110

If you do this, support the body on blocks in many places, and measure the pillar distances before you cut. Then make sure it's still the same distance before you weld on the replacement. If not careful the glass won't fit

Nissan sold the top panel alone which means you'd have to unpick the spot welds from the pillars

Thanks, judging by that exploded view diagram... it’s actually the upper corner of the quarter panel that is rusty, not the roof... replacing the roof skin should fix the drip rails... and I’m debating shaving the drip rails when I swap roof skins, I expect the high speed whistling of the drip rails should go bye bye as a biproduct of doing that... I do have a spare turret, but don’t want to change a turret if I don’t need to...
