#1 Suck through Stromberg 175 cd 2 help
Maty1200 Posted on: 2015/6/9 13:03
Hi guys
I'm starting to build a stromberg 175 cd 2 ihi rhb6 suck through set up.
I'm a bit unsure of a few things
I have attached a picture.
There's a check valve which was blocked off and another outlet between the turbo and carby
And the actuator looks to have wire inputs.
Also I'm not sure what this set ups off
Saab or Volvo
Any help would be great
My numbers 0401923643
Thanks

The 'actuator' appears to be a pressure switch, could possibly be a sender unit for a boost gauge (electric not capillary).
The outlet is still on the vacuum side so is probably just a vacuum supply line. As for the check valve, I suspect it is probably just a port blocked with a ball bearing, that was quite common, however I cant actually see it so cant be sure.

That 'check valve' looks like a PCV valve.

Thanks for the help. I might just blank off the check valve and put the other line in my vacuum tree.
Anymore help would be great

Your "actuator" is a Hobbs pressure switch. As its an old draw thru turbo system it is probably used to activate an electric washer pump for a water injection system. It may have an adjuster between the terminals to alter the switching pressure.

The check valve could be for reducing vacuum pressure for a non-carbon seal turbo.
Help stop the turbo from sucking oil under high vacuum. I use to do this over 30 years ago

If I'm not running pollution gear where would the best place be to connect the check valve?

Depends on what the "check valve" is for ...

It's a PCV valve. Blank it off if you're running a catch can instead. You'll need to run the crankcase breather somewhere because it will breathe some oil regardless of how good the motor is.
oh, and that's not a CD-2. Only the early ones have the adjustable jet like that. CD-2's like mine have a plastic bung in the base of the fuel chamber instead, and a very limited top adjustment on the needle instead.
