Hi i have a 120y which i am doing body work on at the moment and i have just got a sr20de for dirt cheap and i want to put it in the 120y

I have been reading that you can get it engineered in victoria if its N/A but if i was to turbo it will it be possible to do?

Has anyone got a turbo sr engineered in vic?

Any help/info and contacts of engineers would be great

Thanks

Used to be possible to get a modification certificate but now it's National Code of Practice.

NCOP engine section
Quote:
ENGINE CAPACITY

All vehicles originally weighing less than 800 kg: Original mass (kg) x 3.0 = max. capacity in CCs. Turbo/Supercharged: Original mass (kg) x 2.5.
730 x 2.5 = 1825 cc maximum

You may still be able ICV it, for example, put a truck chassis under the 1200.

What if i get it engineered as a sr20de then turbo it later on chances of getting into trouble would be alot less? Bad idea?

Does a turbo system have to be engineered ?
alot of people add turboes to NA engines without engineering is this legal with no engineering or is it just something people dont bother doing?

Thanks

You can, but you still should engineer a turbo.

So if i was to turbo a A12 engine the legal way to do it would be to get it engineered?. But i guess most people dont bother?

This wont be my daily but i dont want to get refused insurance claim if im in a accident over a turbo.

Thanks

By law you need to engineer turbo conversion.

Contact a Vass engineer to see about your plans
