so im trying to upgrade my round dash , the clock doesn't keep the time so i got a tachometer
it turns out to be a early loop style one .
my 1985 1200 ute doesn't seem to have the factory wiring .
the tech wiki says in my case i need to find the BW wire in the dash and cut it . i have found a black wire with white line but before i cut my unmolested factory loom i would love to confirm its location

There is only one B/W wire thick wire. The easiest place to cut it is just behind the Ignition Switch (unplug the connector to get to it). The best place to cut it is just above the tachometer but there it is covered by layers of wrapping.

the loom that runs across the dash has the BW wire but it doesnt go any were :? it pops out the loom with a female round connector

Sounds like a diagnostic connector.

You can test it by checking for continuity between IGN switch B/W wire and the coil B/W wire (when both are disconnected)

wired it to the IGN switch it all work now but a bit bouncy :? can that be fixed

Bouncy in my experience has been caused by two things: bad connection (loose wire) OR bad tachometer. But when I first got my ute it was doing that until I removed an extra wire from the coil. Not sure what it was, I simply disconnected it, then the tacho worked well and everything else seemed fine.

I've had bouncy tachs be caused by bad spark plug wires or plugs.

Quick electrical tune up fixed it (3 different times over the years...)
