When I had my coupe on the road last it had a fairly well modded A15 and I found that with the standard radiator (recored) it would get hot really quickly around town, I fitted an expansion tank from a ford laser and that was enough to keep it cool (just). When it was original A12 it was fine.

Thanks Matt..You've confirmed what i thought. Also...will a thermo fan really make a difference (cooling, power etc) to a standard a12???

Also you'll probably find that it will only really run at low speeds (around town) at high speeds etc theres normally enough air through the front of the car to do most of the cooling

I have only ever heard of them blowing toward the engine either sucking or blowing through the radiator (to cool the radiator not the engine), fan blades are either left or right, meaning you have to have them running in the correct direction, the leading edge 'cuts" the air and the pitch of the blade pushes the air off the trailing edge in the direction you want the air delivered to, this is what determines which side of the radiator you'll have to mount the fan on.

An easy way to tell is that looking at the blade in such a way that the prop of the blade is concave the air will blow at you.

Hey i was just wondering which way should a thermo fan be installed. I've heard differing opinions like it should be blowing towards the engine to cool the engine, or, it should be blowing towards the radiator to cool it when stopped in traffic etc

Is there one way that cools more efficiently or anything??? Thanks
