High pressure fuel pump install

Hey guys i just installed my sr20 into my 120y and im up to the fueling stage and needed peoples opinion.
I was thinking to just run a internal pump in the standard tank like a walbro 255 but then realised that therea no internal swirl pot chamber so going around corners i might have fueling issues Then i thought to run a external pump with a external swirl pot and a intank lift pump but then realised the lift pump might starve around corners aswell? I realy dont want to run a external pump system if i dont have to. How have people made a intank system work? Thanks and have a happy new year!

A "lift" pump is like the standard mechanical fuel pump. Or an inexpensive Facet pump. No worries. A swirl chamber is not even needed if you keep the fuel tank at least 1/2 full. Richard over at Ozdat swapped an SR20 for $1400 total cost.

I was thinking about this some more. The purpose of a swirl pot (or of a baffled fuel tank) is to provide a 100% flow of fuel to the high-pressure pump. The pot itself doesn't require this, the fuel flow to the pot can be occasionally interrupted with no problems. As long as the EFI fuel pump inlet always has fuel the engine will never act up
Afracer, one of the first club members to swap an SR20 into a 1200, used the stock coupe overflow tank as a surge tank ![]() ![]() Utes also have a little tank like this

I was thinking the same thing
I think if i run a external lift pump (5psi) of the original tank outlet into a surge tank that i can make of alloy Then run a high pressure inline pump of the swirl pot I think you right about it not being an issue if the lift pumps not getting 100% fuel around corners as the swirl pot shuld have enough for the engine and the high pressure pump.

Yep... thats the exact reason people use them
