I like the VVT version
* Extra HP, yet idles smoothly
* Can trigger VVT with dash-mounted switch (no computer needed)

Nissan4eva, do you have to use a Nissan engine? is it for competition? I've tuned a couple of Toyota 4AGE 1600cc 20 valve engines lately, The one that left yesterday made 97Kw at 7600 and 140Nm at 6000 ATW with standard cams and 13:1 comp. It had manually adjustable cam pulleys that made a significant difference to putting the torque where the customer wanted it. I know its a bit off topic, but just showing it as a comparison.

Engine I'm planning to use, is later non vvt engine with straight intake ports. Just need more power than A15 can deliver under 1.6cc.

Yes, there are two ways to use an GA engine in rear-wheel drive

* Use the Nissan GA RWD transmission (71C 5-speed)
or
* Use an A-series transmission, 3 of the main bolt holes line up, another works if drilled out a bit, the last needs some work (or just skip it)

Dunno how to get the head working on an A-series block. Those who have done it aren't saying how

A GA block bolts to an A-series transmission, rather than the L-series version of the 60/63?
Also, a GA could in theory be bolted into an A-series block? Presumably you'd have to use an extension of the existing A-series cam to run a timing belt up to the GA cams?

Yes, it sure does. Mostly because it has twice as many valves in the same-size head (GA16 head bolts to the A-series block, although the oil ports don't line up exactly)

A15 -> E15 -> GA16, so it's two generations newer
