Not sure what you mean by "lsd head" but as far as I know all H165 housings will accept any H165 carrier

Yes, an H165 LSD unit fits into any H165 carrier.

Since the gearset bolts to the differential (LSD type or Open type), be aware that there are two differential types:
* Type I (to 1979 or 1980)
* Type II (from 1979 or 1980)
Both types have the same available ratios, but take different ones. For example there is a 4.11 gearset (Type I) and a 4.11 gearset (Type II). I think Type I is M10 bolts and Type II is M11 bolts (bolts that fasten the Ring Gear to the differential)
