My brother just fitted a 98 Toyota Altezza Motor in his Galant. It's Aspirated 2.0 L (Beams Motor) RWD claiming Factory 156KW/ 209BHP @ 7500rpm 220NM with a six speed. Goes like #OOPS# off a shovel

Ahhh the Family II found in the infamous Holden Camira, had plenty of torque but very unreliable. I'm sure the 16v were an improvement.

Actually no, GMH originally specced the cam belt change at 100,000 KM intervals, Good wide tough belt pity about the cheapskate bearings in ths rubbish idler pulley's after many failures fixed under warranty GM did what GM does.

No they did not improve the product they just lowered the belt and pulley change interval to 60,000 KM's.

Yes as a "Race Engine" when you basically throw away most of the factory bits it's a whole new ballgame and surprisingly fast and reasonably reliable but not in stock form.

The Camira didn't use this engine (20XE DOHC), but intead an SOHC engine (20LE)

* 1987-1989 Holden Camira JE SOHC
* Plagued by poor Idler design for the timing belt? Or was that earlier Camiras?
* Earlier Camira used smaller engines (1.6 or 1.8), which wer notorious for engine problems as they aged

The 20XE was Opel-designed with head cast by Cosworth or Kolbenschmidt

20XE was succeeded by the Ecotec 20XEV, with Lotus-designed cylinder head

Does anyone recognize this engine? Swapped into a Datsun 510, replacing the 1600 engine
