What body styles did the 1200 come in?

- Comprehensive listing of the Coupe, Van, Wagon, Truck and Sedans.

- Discusses trim levels: Standard, Semi-DX, DX, GL and GX.

- Special B110 models: SSS, S1 and Excellent 1400. Photos of each.

Someboday was saying that the PB110 was bigger than the B110 (track specification was wider, was it?). Obviously the hood and front fenders are different, but the body from the windshield back looks exactly like a B110 except for the trim.

Ah, yes it was in the ever-popular Silver 1200 Excellent 4-dr sedan photo album entry.

Quote:
DATSUN SUNNY EXCELLENT 1400 GX:

lenght: 4000 mm (standard 1200: 3830 mm)
width: 1500 mm (1495 mm)
height: 1395 mm (1390 mm)
wheel base: 2340 mm (2300 mm)
track, front: 1255mm (1240 mm)
track, rear: 1245mm (1245 mm)
weight: 825kg (705 kg)

This information is from old finnish car mag called Tekniikan Maailma (10/1971)

Here's the B110 specs from the FIA listing (available in the Documents section):

Quote:
DATSUN 1200 SUNNY B110

length 383 cm
width 149.5 cm
height 139.0 cm
Wheelbase 2300 mm 90.55 in
f track 1240 mm 48.82 in
r track 1245 mm 49.02 in
Weight 635 kg (1399 lbs) with normal equipment, water, oil and spare wheel but without fuel no repair tools AND WITHOUT INTERIOR HEATING SYSTEM.

The difference can be explained:

length: 170 mm - longer hood and front fascia
width: 5 mm - increased front track?
height: 5 mm - taller tires or ride height
Wheelbase: 40 mm - this is significant, if the figure is accurate
front track: 15 mm
rear track: no difference
weight: depends on how it's measured. Obviously the L14/tranny combo weighs more than the A12 and its tranny, plus the PB110 bears the weight of the longer front sheet metal, and probably more carpeting/interior trim.

In Australia, ADR15 is related to demisting of the windcreen and the internal heater is part of that requirement.

I expect this ADR (Australian Design Rule) was introduced in 1971.

I've never seen a 1200 without an internal heater/demister. It must be something particular to the LB110.

Chris.

More likely, 500 cars were produced in Japan w/o heaters to satisfy the FIA homologation listing.
