Never been done before:
* VK56VD from the 2010 Nissan Patrol into Datsun 1200
* AWD powertrain from Nissan Pulsar RNN14. Only the rear IRS has been fitted to a 1200

research L series even 1200s came with them, very important jewel

they are my fave atm compact, simple, smooth, further weight savings possible
in NA race VG33e made 420hp and weighed around 135kgs or L18 weight.

Prince GTR dept competed with Nissan Z dept at the time & GTR won but
the V6 is now king for many reasons even Honda NSX dept knows why.

Good point. GTR won because 4-valves per cylinder beats 2-valves per cylinder. More HP, more torque

On 2nd thought an RB26 N/A engine is a fine idea:
* Runs smoother than V6, sounds better too
* Cut hole in firewall and hole in floor, install engine with setback for perfect 50/50 weight balance
* Buy Autech RB26 only $24,000
* Or convert Nissan RB26 to NA with $3,600 pistons and camshafts

one conversion that would be awesome would be LS1-LS9 into a Datsun 1200 or 120Y...

Nissan engines are cool, but a LS could be a lot of fun too...

LS9 though.... not sure... 638 horsepower would be insane...

prefer to stick with mechanical options that need the minimal amount of cutting, that being said LS9 into a 1200 would have a triangulated four link...

Lots of LS conversions have been done with leaf-spring suspension ... and LS has already been done in Datsun 1200

What about Nissan QR25DE,the engine which replaced the SR20?

only mentioned the LS motors because I rememeber someone saying that LS engines are lighter than a L series four cylinder...

actually curious to see a pic of a LS in a 1200/120Y now :-p

LS is a revised Chevrolet V8, and weighs a lot more than a Datsun L4. Some LS have aluminum block but still weigh more than L18 engine (200kg vs 114kg)

CA18DET is one of the most common engine swaps for Datsun 1200, and perhaps the best swap

DD vg30 did come with twin cam 4 valve heads but they are too wide!
