Hi guys,
It's been years since I've been on this site, so it's good to see its still going after all this time.
My partner has herself a 1200 sedan that shes slowly rebuilding while using it as a daily driver.
It's in desperate need of a suspension and brake upgrade, so I'm on the hint for her, for some Stanza struts.
It seems all this stuff is somewhat more difficult to get a hold of than when I was playing with Datsuns 10 years ago.
If anyone has some, or knows of some, please let me know!

Also, I can't remember if 180/ 200b struts can be fitted to the 1200 also?

Cheers for your help in advance.
Matt

Most struts can be fitted to the 1200. For an overview, see our tech article: 1200 and 120Y Strut and Brake Upgrades

What's changed in the last 10 years

* S13 Brakes are larger than A10, and bolt on to the lightweight 1200 struts. This is the best performance option

* Larger struts (e.g. A10 Stanza, 200B, etc) give more options for shock cartridges

So what would you recommend to do in terms of a fairly easy upgrade?
Disc brakes would be very nice, along with a booster.
Also, would love to get the car sitting lower, and some decent wheels, so if the 1200 struts are retained, can you get them on without rubbing etc?

Cheers...
Matt

Easy, bolt-on -- needs no booster -- fits 1200 with decent wheels, no rubbing, I would do the larger-than-S13 brake upgrade (but still fits under some 13" alloy wheels). Lightweight big brakes from 1988-1993 Bluebird U12. See 258mm Brake Upgrade. Buy the adapter from Bluehands inc, or make your own

If you plan on racing it, or doing a lot of mountain driving, go with the smaller vented discs. See S13 Brakes for photos and how-to

You can add a booster to either setup for less pedal effort. Use the 120Y booster setup, if you get the entire 120Y setup (booster, master cylinder and factory firewall adapter) it just need some minor mods like drill a larger center hole in firewall and four bolt holes. Maddat sells the same kit with a custom firewall adapter if you don't want to scrounge up the factory parts

Cheers for all the helpful info thus far!
So, it looks like the 1200 drum brake fitted struts might not be suitable, as the articles only talk about 1200 disc fitted struts, so a set of 120y struts would seem the go, then having fit the bigger discs to them and go from there?
Furthermore, is there an upgrade for the rear as well, or will the original drums keep up and provide enough braking?

Cheers...
Matt

Yeah, the drums are fine for street use as long as they are adjusted every 3 months. Improving the fronts make a huge difference

No doubt!
So final question.
I'm I better off sourcing some 120y struts and making the changes to them, or use the struts that are fitted to the vehicle already (that are currently fitted with drums) and fitting the discs to those?

Yes, you can fit disc brakes to 120Y drum struts. See drum struts with S13 disc brakes for photos & info

If you want to purchase adapters, they are sold only for disc brake struts

120y struts with 27mm spindles, then s13 250mm calipers, and brackets will do the job, if you want Coilovers as well.
I build kits and sell all the above items if your interested im in Vic but
