Has it ever been done? Sounds like an incredibly durable engine. Has set a record for longest running engine in a car

I've owned 2 Volvo 140s and the B20 motors are indeed sturdy albeit on the heavy side. The are also pretty torquey. In full race trim they give over 200hp. They come in a few different trims single & dual carb plus Bosch D fuel injected. The fuel injected versions are 130HP thereabouts. In streetable trim 150-160hp is fairly easy to attain. These motors are backed by 4 speed overdrive transmissions. My street car was a 142E (fuel injected) and the rally car was a 144 twin carb model. I loved the cars but needed to sell them when I did.

Out of interest, what is the appeal for the ovlov motor over the datsun L series L18 or L20?

Sure they may well be a durable tractor motor, but the L series isnt so unreliable that you would toss it aside for an ovlov.

well ... an L20B will only last about 250,00 miles (400,000 km) before it needs new rings. Voldvo B20 lasts longer

sooo, at 400,000km, you need to give a L-series rings.
I spose if a 1,000,000km is important than the ovolv is the go.
Anyone got any ideas on lifespan as a modifed motor? Does the ovlov still retain its lifespan once you squeeze it some?

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/w ... s/highest-vehicle-mileage

This is the guinness record for the ovlov in question.
Wonder if its all original aside from servicing.
How much can you replace before its no longer the original motor?

As I recall, the first million miles was done on the original rings. I remember reading about him in the 1980s

There is an equally durable engine the H20 from Nissan pushrods all cast iron with main rods and other architecture double fold compared to an L series

There is also an alloy head to save 10kg off the top :) not that it wont make a 1200 a lead tipped arrow but its a better alternative to a ovlov b series

They're both good motors and both are putting out the same horsepower for the same level of modifications. Neither choice would be wrong, granted the L-series would be keeping it In the family.
