Yes, Pertronix is a popular retrofit (fits into your existing points distributor and is a "points replacement" type of unit). It is more reliable than points (which need regapping 3 months for top performance, and replacing every year). See Pertronix

Be aware that the 1741 Ignitor is a low-energy system (use with stock Datsun coil or equivalent replacement coil such as Bosch GT40R). Many use it with a high-energy coil (like the Nissan Bluebird/Pulsar coils or Bosch HEC), but it is not recommended nor warrantied by Pertronix for use with high-energy coil. Pertronix makes Ignitor II high energy unit, but to may knowledge they don't have an Ignitor II kit for the A-series distributors

Ah, the knowledge on this forum bedazzles me every time. Thanks so much for the information. Still Learning a lot here.

So, ddgonzal, exhaust manifold from the A12 and intake manifold / carb from Vanette on the A15 is going to be allright, or? :)

Thanks for the Pertronix-tip!

NISMO: I'll take note of that, better to save some parts from the Vanette while I still have it than to send it to the crusher With valuable spares, eh?

I'm learning something every day too

I doubt they will fit together. Why not use the A15 intake & exhaust manifold together as a set? A15 exhaust manifold is the correct size for A15 engine, even though A12 will bolt to A15 engine, performance will not be as good. A12 has smaller runners sized to smaller engine

Allright, I was going to alter the exhaust a little later on anyway - but IF I want to reuse the near-new stock exhaust hanging underneath my 120Y for w a while before doing that, I have to cut the front-most part of the vanette exhaust and join it together With the Stock 120Y exhaust at the same Place since the Stock 120Y exhaust won't bolt directly to the A15 exhaust manifold due to stud differences? I've understood it correctly, yes?

Cutting and welding is one option

Or you could change the flange to a 3-bolt flange. The exhaust pipe matches up to the A12 or A15 manifold, but the flange is either 2-bolt or 3-bolt

Ah, now I got it. Thanks! Any tips on how to get the flange?

I'll just need it in detail, so I don't scrap the Vanette With some parts that I should've taken out still on it, hehe. Besides, I'm somewhat of a noob.

Think I got the exhaust bit now, exhaust workshop in town would surely be able to fix this small issue.

By the way.. I can't seem to figure out something.. the rear diff shows no numbering or marks of some sort.. someone knows anything about VIN number decoding for old Datsuns? Or some clue? My 120Y has VIN LB210425813. First time registration in Norway occured on October 27th 1974.. do you guys think it's likely that my Datto was produced with the H150 starting september 1974?

LB210425813 is not a VIN per se, but a "car number"

LB210 - model type
425813 - car serial number

Identifying H145 vs H150

Quote:
H145 can be distinguished by studs, whereas H150 uses bolts to fasten the diff to the case.

Hi guys! Did a roadtrip this weekend, 900km. Good on the old 1200. Its valve seals seem to be broken as it burns oil like nothing else. But it doesn't matter, I'm going to fit the A15 soon.

But. Electric gremlins appeared underway. My turn signal only works when turning left. If turned on in the right direction, nothing happens. The indicator lamp inside lights up and stays on, relay doesn't even click, nothing outside the car. Also, this goes for hazard switch. Only left blinkers are blinking. What's wrong?? :o Bonus feature: when blinking left, and turning; as I roll the steering wheel back into a straight position, and the blinker handle is brought back into its neutral position - a small signal is sent to the car horn, causing it to honk quickly :D WTF?

And the wiper fluid jet nozzles seem to have packed themselves up with something as they do not squirt fluid on the windshield. Can it be fixed - or can I buy new nozzles somewhere?

There's always something. ;)
