Yes, fingertip or pinky finger pressure

Pad height is measured from floor mat (not carpet) to top of pad

On transmission it has 3-4mm .

Is the pedal height measured vertically from the floor pan or from the back of the pedal to where the pad would hit if it wasn't connected?

And is free play measured by how far the clutch moves in by fingertip pressure before it stops?

How much play do you have in the cable?

1. On transmission (at the release lever): adjust for 3-4 mm play

2. Inside: adjust pedal (pad height 139.5-143.5 mm from floor)

3. Check pedal free play (11-15mm)

Wow dude no..... That's ment to say first not third :')
On further inspection I can hear a slight grind with every gear...
But second is by far the worst when downshifting.

4-speed and 5-speed clutches are the same. A12 and A15 clutches are now the same, sold by Nissan and others (originally, A12 clutches were lighter duty, which would not cause grinding or banging, but might cause slipping if you used a light-duty clutch on a high-torque engine). Have you adjusted the clutch cable to spec?

If it doesn't grind going from neutral into first gear, and it goes into first gear smoothly, then the combo is working correctly

Grinds second gear on downshift pretty bad.
That sounds like a description of worn synchros

And there's a massive bang when I take off in third.
Don't do that

Okay mate. Hopefully you see this comment.
Just got the ute going.

Sound like I need to remove the engine plate.
Also I think I might have put the A12 clutch in there Insted of the clutch from the 5 speed. :S

Sure, it only requires removing the flywheel, which can be done with the motor in the car (remove gearbox first)

Would you know if it is possible to remove the engine plate with out taking the motor out?
