Hi DD,I don't remember which model Patrol as we where more interested in finding something on the Repco shelf quickly that we could make work in quick time as the car was sitting on the dyno.As it turned out we found a new unit from OEX with a part number of HXA070 and it made 90A,the mounting points on the bottom lined up the same as the A series(later model block in front of dissy)as did the top tensioner bracket, all I had to do was remove the new alternator pulley and replace it with the one from the old alternator so to run the normal V belt, seem to remember placing a 3mm washer behind the pulley to align the belt properly.
As far as manifolds are concirned,I fabricated everything in house as was unable to buy anything that would work off the shelf. ![]()

I used either an N14 pulsar or a 200sx alternator, the look the same, I just can't remember which one I actually fitted. Wiring mods only, bolted straight up.

Bert, that's good information. 90A big unit. HXA070 seems to be the same as what was used on Silvia CA engine
* Internally regulated, so discard the existing Voltage Regulator and jumper the plug wires * Oval plug, so minor connector change needed * Uses serpentine belt pulley Thomen, in addition to the last few posts, there is detailed information on the Falcon alternator swap at Alternator Upgrades: Bosch E65 On the Nissan 50A/60A swap at Alternator Upgrades: Hitachi LT * No wiring changes * 60A instead of 35A * No mods needed * Nissan EFI cars used this unit

Thanks for all the info guys! with the wiring mods this is all for a morris minor. I'm not sure what role the voltage reg is used for in my setup? I'll ask the guys

the Voltage Regulator matches the alternator that you are using ... so if you swap an internally-regulated VR, discard your existing VR

I don't even know if I have a voltage regulator (pardon my ignorance)

Yes, all Morris Minor has a VR, but it's likely not compatible with an alternator
If using a stock late A12/A14/A15 alternator, wire in the Sunny VR or Datsun 1200 VR. Better yet, choose an internally-regulated alternator for simpler wiring

The simplest swap would be the stock A12 LT-135 for the LR-160
* LR-160 was used on Nissan EFI cars * Bolt-on to late A engines. No mods needed * No wiring changes needed * No external VR needed Apparently common on Subaru Leone/Brumby http://www.autoelectricsdirect.com.au ... ?_a=product&product_id=98 See Hitachi LR Alternator

I just checked ... Nissan used the 50A LR150 on the EFI A14 Sunny (see Sunny GX-E: Alternator
In Australia, some 1980s A12/A14/A15 came with 50A already ... maybe you already have a 50A alternator with your engine To tell whether your have 35A or 50A, measure the alternator diameter * 35A about 114mm diameter * 50/60A about 129mm diameter 35A is definitely not enough for EFI -- it's only enough for ignition, headlights, heater fan and low-power stereo. If you plan on running a big-watt audio system, you'll want to get an 85A or 90A alternator You can view topic.
