Bert, that's good information. 90A big unit. HXA070 seems to be the same as what was used on Silvia CA engine
* Internally regulated, so discard the existing Voltage Regulator and jumper the plug wires
* Oval plug, so minor connector change needed
* Uses serpentine belt pulley

Thomen, in addition to the last few posts, there is detailed information on the Falcon alternator swap at Alternator Upgrades: Bosch E65

On the Nissan 50A/60A swap at Alternator Upgrades: Hitachi LT
* No wiring changes
* 60A instead of 35A
* No mods needed
* Nissan EFI cars used this unit

I used either an N14 pulsar or a 200sx alternator, the look the same, I just can't remember which one I actually fitted. Wiring mods only, bolted straight up.

Hi DD,I don't remember which model Patrol as we where more interested in finding something on the Repco shelf quickly that we could make work in quick time as the car was sitting on the dyno.As it turned out we found a new unit from OEX with a part number of HXA070 and it made 90A,the mounting points on the bottom lined up the same as the A series(later model block in front of dissy)as did the top tensioner bracket,all I had to do was remove the new alternator pulley and replace it with the one from the old alternator so to run the normal V belt,seem to remember placing a 3mm washer behind the pulley to align the belt properly.

As far as manifolds are concirned,I fabricated everything in house as was unable to buy anything that would work off the shelf.

Yes, you have a Late A-series (alternator goes on right side of engine). Late means 1974 or newer. On the early engines, alternator was on left side

You also have the cast iron mount bracket, so as 1200rallycar says, grind the bracket on the rear portion so that it fits the Bosch. Or you could use a Hitachi, which is 60A bolt-on (from most 1980s Nissan). Either is a big upgrade from the 35A Datsun unit

Just wondering if you can tell if I'd need a spacer or what the best way to mount the EA alt would be?

Theres 3 different datsun 1200 mounts. So depends what you have how you have to modify it. And yes its inernal reg so you have to change wiring to suit.

Easiest one to mount is if your 1200 has the cast mount on the drivers side. You can just grind it down on the back side to suit. If you have the steel folded plate style mount then you use spacers

Hi bert, what year Patrol? Maybe was a Hitachi LT160, 60A version of the 1200 LT135 35A alternator, about 1" bigger around

If anyone is interested,I had to change alternators to run all the electrics associated with turbo fuel injection and I used a Nissan Patrol unit,only req'd a pulley downgrade back to the standard one.

That one on eBay looks like a Bosch Australia unit, like the ones fitted to aus-assembled 120Y

It also looks like it is internally regulated? If so minor wiring change might be needed
