#5 Re: Build update and good body shops Reno?

There are a couple of vintage racers up near Reno. They'll be down here for vintage races at the end of the month and I'll ask them if they know of any shops. Is the top gun drag strip still there maybe some of those guys know somebody.

Awesome. How much radiator is enough? One that can cool a 200 hp engine! The B14 radiators fit in the 1200 and if you get a 3-row might be enough. They were only SR20DE, but they sell upgraded radiators that can support more power, the "2-row" (1-1/4 thick) unit is only $84 new aluminum radiator

The 2007 SE-R radiator is even less expensive but the are more than 2 inches taller so probably wouldn't fit

I'm actually looking at the spec v engine which comes with a higher compression ratio and 200hp stock with 174 ft lb torque.

Glad to see you still have your 1200

Awesome plan. I think yours is the first QR swap. The 2007+ is fixed for high RPM use (early QRs shouldn't be revved over 6100 RPM continuously) -- they strengthened the rods & pistons and (at least in some models) got rid of the power-robbing unnecessary balance shaft

If you decide to keep the 1200 struts you can fit the large vented disc brakes from the JDM S13 (280mm), or even the 257mm rotors from USA S14 will stop the 1200 and pull up hard. The main reason to swap struts is to gain more choices of bargain strut inserts -- but there are several choices available still for 1200 struts, from smooth-riding Nissan originals, ultra-short inserts for radical lowering, and adjustable racing inserts

It has been a while since I've been on here so I'd thought id give and update on my project plans. I moved so these might take a while to come to fruition and my car is pretty rusted so I'm already a step behind.
possible specs:

eninge:
07+ QR25DE
Trans:
05+ Frontier 5 speed
Diff:
MADDAT modified R31 differential with LSD
Major body mods include:
Trans tunnel
Hakotora kit
ducktail spoiler
possible colors:
interior; stock white
engine bay; white or something oil resistant (like rhino liner)?
exterior; skyline silver or gunmetal?

Some things I'm unsure about on this build are:
Radiator: How much is overkill and how much is too little?
Coilovers: upgrade to something else or has anyone tried the Ceika custom 1200 coilovers?
Brakes: this is pretty much depends on if I swap the struts or not.

Lastly does anyone know of good Body shops in Reno? I would like someone who is decent at fabricating and is a good person to work with. It can be pretty difficult to judge without other peoples opinion. Everything I've seen so far is either American hotrods or lifted trucks.

Thanks for your opinions
and
