Re: Wheel Questions

first a few questions
*7" wide, what diametre? *are the wheels fouling the body of the strut or is it the tyres fouling the spring perch? *what size tyre? as dattodude said, measure your wheels' backspace (distance from the mounting face to the inner edge of the wheel) for starters... There are some pretty big variations in the strut body to wheel/hub mounting face in different Datsun/Nissan struts. depending on how much extra clearance you need, you may be able to use another strut (with bigger brakes). I've been meaning to get comparitive measurements of various struts I have in the shed for a while now...I can't give exact measurements at this stage, but MR30 Skyline will give a bit more clearance (maybe 8mm) and R31 Skyline should be even more again (somewhere around 15mm extra I reckon). But you will probably also have problems at the rear if the wheels are fouling the stanza strut body - the tyre will foul on the inner wheelarch (at least when cornering) unless you are fitting a wider diff.

I had the same problem with the studs when I went to stanza studs. I just went to the local recker with one of my nuts (wheel nuts
) and found an old turbo bluebird and knocked the studs out. I decided to be extra tricky and I took two sets of rear studs coz they are longer dew to drum breaks. they fitted fine and gave me an extra 8mm thred.

Most of you guys would have seen my post at ozdat, where can i get new flacon studs as i ain't goin genuine as they would cost me an arm and a leg, maybe 2. Anyone know where a wreckers in brissy that wreck new cars (ie. write off's etc.).
Thanks heaps Damo

Nissan Motorsports sells longer studs, but they were around $7 USD each last time I looked. If you want to go with standard thread studs, you can get them from the Summit Racing website. You'll have the slightly enlarge the holes in the hub, but it's not too tough. And they are around $1-2 each.
Hope that helps.
