Get a KA24DE out of a 240sx and not a FWD Altima etc. The 240sx has about 15 more horse, oil cylinder injectors and a distributor in front. The FWD Altima when installed into a RWD will stick out the back and interfere with the firewall.
Good Luck!

26k AUD from what I heard and thats a good deal vs the cods

Stock k24de from 240sx (150hp stock) make 190-200hp with
bolt ons such as JWT cams, tuned header and exhaust,
Xcessive inlet with Q45 throttle body, 3rd party ecu
An L20 with 89mm slugs will do it at higher rpm while
Im not sure you can register a 2.4 in a 1200?

I was talking with my father about what engine to get, and I asked him what engine he likes the most, and since he is helping me with the build he said he preffers the SR, so I guess I'll go with an SR. I just have one question. What trans should I get? What's the trans that comes with an S13/14/15?
Many thanks for all the replies!!

Howdy,

Ever thought of using a F20C engine and six speed gear box?
Stock standard they are 1998cc, 180Kw and rev to 9000rpm.

I have one in my 1200 coupe and it goes and sounds great.

Cheers,
Geoff

I love the SR20DET in mine, but it is a very tight fit and more power than you'll know what to do with. I prefer lightly built turbo over fully built NA 100% of the time. Not that the KA24 is a bad engine, SR20s can be very temperamental, but if you just do light mods and treat them right they're solid for 300 rwhp and 30-35 mpgs in a B110. The SR is pretty lightweight too. I'm not sure how they stack up against each other weight-wise, but aluminum block, ditch the A/C, PS, and every other not needed accessory and it'll probably weigh the same or less as an NA KA24 (since you have to add an intercooler, turbo piping, BOV, etc). The great thing about an SR20 is if you get tired of 200 rwhp (stock redtop), you can just turn up the boost and retune to ~240 rwhp, and when you get sick of that you can swap turbos and injectors and retune to 350-400 rwhp pretty easy/reliably. The NA fully built KA24 is pretty stuck where it's at power-wise unless you turbo or nitrous it.

SaCoupe73, although the F20C is a GREAT engine, I want to stay true to the Nissan family, otherwise I would swap in a 4AGE.

AFRacer thanks for the info! I'll leave the SR stock in the beginning, but I know I'll end up turning the boost up and making more power. Sadly I know my self very well!
