Hey guys,

I have a question about wheel measuring,i know that the wheel width is measured form the bead to bead section but is that where back spacing is measured from to.

Cheers.

I believe back spacing is the distance from where the wheel sits flush against the hub to the inner edge of the rim.

Backspacing is the distance from the back lip of the rim to the mounting pad in the center of the rim

So if you measure off the hub face backwards and work out the distance to your strut will provide you your backspacing and from there work out the total width of the fender to the strut for your wheel thus you will know what size wheel will fit and convert your backspacing to offset and will get your desired size wheel (of course you need to take a little off because you don't want your rim directly on the fender or strut)

Generally backspacing is in inches

So for example a 3.5 backspace on a 6 inch wheel is a zero offset

If you need a conversation or a better understanding check this

Yes, most wheels are about 1" wider edge-to-edge than their rated width (6 x 13" wheel is a about 7" wide overall)

It's approximately 3.5" on a stock 1200. So if you leave 1/4" for clearance then wheels with backspacing up to 3.25" will be OK. If you have short tyres that come out below the spring cup you could get away with even more wheel backspace
