Under NCOP it should be based on the heaviest sedan variant.

This is from NCOP - best to check if your states has varied this section as each state is able to 'adjust' sections or not apply them.

VSB14 - section LA

2.13.1 Vehicle Mass
The mass of the vehicle referred to in Tables LA1, LA2 and LA3 is the original (unmodified) tare
mass of the model vehicle fitted with the largest engine available for the model in Australia but
without optional accessories (air conditioning, tow bars etc.). The mass of the vehicle, whether it
is a sedan, station wagon, utility, etc., should be based on the heaviest sedan version of the model
(not station wagon version) sold in Australia

I'D print out the brochure ddgonzal has, that should do it. Give that to the engineer.

The tare weight is of the actual vehicle which he has. The engineer wants GVM which doesnt change regardless of what the vehicle weighs. GVM - tare = payload. GVM cant be exceeded and is a fixed number regardless of tare weight.

Thanks for your help guys. I think that brochure should be enough, I could also use the weight rules from VSB14, I have weights from sedans listed from a workshop manual.
