L16 made 96hp with factory single carburetor, so fitting BS34s to an L16 won't increase the HP very much, but might improve the driveability & throttle response (smoothness)

get a GX cam or cam capable of 90-100hp for your A14, lectric dizzie
if you dont have one yet, shave the head if it needs more comp and if
its a h75 head instead of a h89? use efi setup if cam is big or 34mm carbs
with good headers/exhaust good economy, good hp at revs when you need it

L series gives you a 5 speed but gives much more torque even with 100hp.
