A survivor!

Quote:
This is the ‘one owner’ restoration project that you’ve been looking for.

I purchased the vehicle a few years ago off the daughters of the original owner who drove the car off the dealership in 1972. It was emotional. The car was well loved by their Mum and held many fond memories.

I had high hopes of the classic restoration and subtle mods to bring 'the Fonz’ into something that could be a daily driver or fully restored into a show piece.

Unfortunately, the ole cliché of a newborn baby, a demanding older kid needing a pony* and general lack of time and space, means that the time has come to reluctantly let it go. Ready to hit the road with:

Current WOF and Rego.

Running an A15 with 5 speed – runs super well.

Original matching numbers A12 available, with 4 speed.

Rebuilt front steering/ suspension.
I have put on larger brakes on the front. Original struts and factory looking hoses though..looks stock. All orig parts available.

It has new KYB shocks in the front with lowered (about 1.5-2”) Kings springs. Rear standard.

14” wheels with good offset. New Proxes 195/55/14 on rear.

Original wheels with 4x hubcaps avail.

Has Datsun Cherry seats in the front. Standard seats available (need recovering).

Interior mint.

Body has light surface rust (original paint) and some rust in the usual spots if you dig deep enough. Inspection recommended. I can take photos of specifics for those that can’t inspect for themselves.

The body has not been messed with, so you know what you’re getting. There is evidence of repairs in the two front doors, otherwise that’s it.

Have two new front guards that will go with the car.

40+ years of service records.

Genuine car, massive opportunity to rebuild a classic in your image or drive as is and enjoy.

And you guessed it, no swaps. Cheers.

*Pony might be taking it a bit far…but you get my drift.

yes a great example, nearly one owner, modified in all the right ways (A15 + 5-speed, Jilba wheels), but with the original parts available -- will it sell at $10,000?

Yes, I saw this the other day on Trade Me.
Whilst it is all original it needs some degree of rust repairs, some panel work, seats recovered and a full respray which could easily suck up the thick end of $6000+ very quickly I would have thought that the asking price was rather optimistic but then one never knows these days.
Cheers
Dave

Being very honest on the rust to be honest Dave.
Light surface rust that you'd deal with with a rub down...
front doors you'd probably blast or dip to make mint...comes with new guards.
Bit down by the inner guard/ sill l/h side.

Will take more photos this weekend...
it's pretty sweet for a 45 year old.. best part, no dodgy repaint and hence no surprises.

Starting price only $7000 USD : )

All very true but the fact remains that it does need money spent on it and regretfully the cost of panel and paint in this country now has become excessive.Honestly I can't see much change out of 6 grand as I previously said.
So it all comes down to what value someone sees in an honest, 2 owner car and are they prepared to invest that amount of money and the associated extra costs to bring it back to the condition it deserves.
I wish you all the best and will watch the auction with great interest.
Cheers
Dave

All good Dave, agreed, it's a good time to be a panel beater/ spray guru!

Your red one was for sale for a while yeah? Did it sell?
Great specs IIRC

Good luck!
