What do these things cost?

All depends on the specs - for this one to the public is a little over $2000
Just do a google search or look on ebay for an absolute plethora

I had an ebike for a bit, they can also be a good training tool. I doubt I ever would have got into my old commute of ~40kms each way without an ebike to get me going.

You can get anything from a built bike to kits to components to build whatever you want or imagine. Ebike's are every where in China so there's plenty of Chinese suppliers selling bits. The Chinese eBays are good sources, if you're really interested there's a forum for eBikes, endless sphere (https://endless-sphere.com).
