Hi All,

Need a new carby for the 1000. When looking from the drivers seat, the linkage rotates counter clockwise. Does this mean it would suit weber DFV? Or is it rotation viewed from front of car? See pic.

Cheers

Weber refers to them as left-hand or right-hand
* Weber DGV: right hand
* Weber DFV: left hand

Either one will work on the Datsun, because it is adapting, not a straight bolt-on. the DGV throttle shaft turns anti-clockwise

With the DFV:
* put it on straight, then use a longer throttle cable to go around to other side
* you can turn it around but the smaller primary is on the other side, you can cut out the center of the intake manifold to match up better

Thank you. Just to be clear, what I have drawn up there a DGV is best suited? And where is the best place to get a DGV (ebay seller wants a fortune)?

EDIT: are the reproductions OK?

Cheers

Best place to get DGV is from Redline or other authorized distributors, eBay sellers ask more! And with Redline, you get one with a baseline tune that works OK with most stock engines (just need to adjust idle speed & idle mixture). I don't know anything about reproductions, didn't know they made em for the DGV. Holley made licensed versions (Holley G180, Holley 5200, etc)

When you get a DGV, unbolt the throttle quadrant, and bolt the Hitachi quadrant on (careful not to overtorque). Then the Datsun cable fits like factory. You'll also need to get the throttle cable bracket from Redline or make your own

Rotation is from the point of view of the part, example, standing in front of the engine, it rotates clockwise. Standing in front of the carburetor (facing the throttle linkage side) the stock 1200 carby rotates anti-clockwise

The repo's are u get what u pay for, they are roughly finished compared to genuine ones. I put a repo on a friends gemini and it would never run right even after re-jetting it twice so I got the sh*ts with it pulled it of and stripped it and found the cast was porous in a section causing it to run lean on idle... he only got 75% of his money back due to the seller saying it was now secondhand even though it was a casting fault... not saying that would happen with all but he then bought a genuine one and it purrs now and goes heaps better than standard. My 2c

What size is the engine? I have a 28/30dgv weber that has been on an A12 & was very good. I've even gone as far as getting the complete choke set up, as it was a bit hard to drive on cold winter mornings. I've since put an A15 into the car & the carb is now too small. The weber manuals say it is originally from an escort with a 1 litre motor, & the carb is suited up to 1.2 litres. In every other way it's a standard DGV. PM me if you're interested in the carb. I've got a 32/36DGV I'll put on it.
PS I thought it was G for general & F for Ford. You can still get DGV's on Fords, though.
