4.11 (Pintara ratio) LSD in Melbourne - complete diff - Calipers will need rebuild I'd say, otherwise good and I was told when I bought it that the LSD had been "re-coned". $400 if you're interested

So Denuto I assume the diff you mention still needs to be shortened and have brackets cut off etc.

Correct. It's as it came out of an R31. If it was shortened already, I'd not be asking $400

Of course! So you've decided to go for a H190 LSD have you?

Yes. Working on it. I got hold of an H190 out of an S12 and waiting on arrival of an LSD centre. The R31 diff is pretty damn hefty!!

R31 used H190, R200 or CA200 diff -- except in Australia where it was fitted with a locally-built Borg Warner 78. So any are strong enough for CA18DE

Either the strong 25-spline BW78 or the stronger 28-spline BW78 are strong enough for V8s as they were fitted for Ford and GM cars. Even the H190 is strong enough for a mild V8

Remember the axle assembly is all unsprung weight, so making it heavier than necessary hurts performance

Not sure D. I'll get it on some scales and weigh it, but I'll have to wait 'til there's someone strong to help me! I'll weigh the H190 also to get a comparison.

I would expect that it would be pretty much unbreakable in a Sunny, 120Y or 1200. The cars weigh so little that it would be hard to get enough traction to break anything. It's not quite a 9" diff but it's a lot closer in size and weight to a 9" than it is to an H145/150/165
