Hi Guys,
I pulled the A12 on the weekend and replaced with the A15 and 60a 5 speed. what I'm after is some of your measurements from:
Right top engine bay to right side of tappet cover? Left top engine bay to left side of tappet cover?
Im about 10 mm's out so wondering if I should rectify it.

hi vixen, I'm aware of that. About 15mm longer stroke I believe. Im talking about it being off centre by 5mm.
Its probably nothing to worry about, but I'm interested to see how others fair with their measurements.
I have also found the 60a clutch fork very close to the tunnel. I have it about 5mm clearance at the moment.

Interesting question about the centering ... I always centered the rubber isolators and let the engine sit where it will. Can move the engine left and right a bit
Are you measuring like this?

yes except I'm measuring from the very front of the cover to lower flange below the one your line points too. Simply as it will show up a larger error if its installed on an angle by being the very front.
I found that the rear of engine is perfectly centred however the from is out. My left side mount I fabricated is 35mm set back as has been explained in forums, but the drivers side needed to be 45mm out. Thats why I have wondered how other peoples line up on original mounts.

Inregards to the A15 engine height I replaced the engine mount rubbers with aftermarket industrial ones which are 15mm lower in height......So my engine is 15mm lower, yes the sump is lower , I don’t drive like an idiot so I don’t have any issues . As for your engine not being central, has you car been in an accident , is your vehicle within manufactures spec . My self I position the engine central to the radiator and at ninety degrees so when the shrouds are fitted every thing looks correct. Things do need to measure correct and just as important cosmetically look correct.

Hi Datmo,
Do you have a front sway bar? Does the crank pulley have much clearance from the sway bar being lower?
Panels are straight up front so I don't see any signs that would make be suspect a bent chasis.
Yes I agree with what you are saying, I'm just a curious cat about the measurements.
