Hey Ninno,

Hit it with some paint stripper, then a wire brush to remove most of the bog, then all by hand with some 80 grit to see what was left.

The previous owner did some repairs which weren't really too bad, but I think I can do better. I managed to get a few dents out, but need to pull out the front section a little before I am happy.

I will also cut out where the rust had eaten away and weld in a new piece. It was previously just all bogged over.

That's mad as. Good to hear that you're back in the game. What did you use on that front fender panel; wire brush or sand blaster? It looks great!

INTRO:

My first 1200 was a sedan that I had in the mid 1990’s … sold it shortly after finishing it (maybe 1996) and moved on. Man I wish I had kept it …..

Anyway, after 20 years of other projects like old Holdens and a bunch of motorbikes, I have decided to get back to a 1200. This time a Coupe.

I purchased this a couple of years ago and thought it would be a great little project to fill in some time. Sometimes I will go weeks without looking at it, then spend days on it straight.

When I seen her, it was clear she had had a hard life, but not as hard as some that I have seen around. Plans have changed a little, although the main idea is still the same – Old School.

This is only some of what I have done so far –

A12 – A14
Auto – Manual
Short throw shifter
Front Coilovers (and RCA’s)
Reverse eyed and reset leafs
I think the car sits around 3.5” lower now. Dead level too …
The rear shocks I found to fit were from an old ford something? But forget exact details.
Thicker anti sway bar
All new bushes front and rear
I am just about finished rebuilding the front calipers
Put in the H165 diff
Running a set of 13” August Feroce. Will be refurbed and widened in time
Electric Fuel Pump
Twin 40mm webers
I also have 2 styles of fender flares, just not sure which to use …

No real time line on the build, I am just enjoying working on it really. I think the last 10 years for me has been about motorbikes, so body work repairs is going to be hard to get back into.

I start a welding course in a couple of weeks, So give me a few months of cutting all the cancer out of this thing and I will be an expert!!!!

Anyway, just wanted to share and introduce myself to you all. Will post a few images …
