Datsun 1000 running an a12 late model. The heater hose at rear of head is split, what would I use as replacement? Looks like I was actually using an air cleaner hose all this time. Heater hoses suiting datto 1200 and 120y don't seem to have the right bends in them. See picture below, my hose has a 90 degree turn on one end and a 180 degree turn on the other, slightly offset. Where can I get a coolant suitable one like this?

that one is coolant suitable. maybe yours just got old. It split there on my 1200 too

if you rotate the head outlet up, a simpler hose may work. The engine vibrates, so if there's any strain on the hose from being at an awkward angle it will split sooner

Thanks dd. I would give that hose "27186" a try but I definitely need the 90 degree on the end as the 1000 heater outlet is very tight and high inside the cabin. Might go down to the parts store and pick a random one out.

I had figured the breather hose wasn't suitable for coolant as it doesn't have the reinforcing thread built in:

The original Nissan hoses have external reinforcing braid, on the outside of the hose

But anyways standard 1/2" hose will work

My 1000 hose was split too so I just used about 300mm of standard heater hose in a loop without kinks. Worked a treat!

In Australia Mackay Rubber products based in Nowra NSW supply heater hoses engine mounts and a wide variety of rubber products for older cars like ours, I have used them for submersible fuel line that goes inside the fuel tank one of the few suppliers that have it.
Here is the link to their catalog pages.

I'm not sure what size they are on the old Dattos anymore, but on my oddball jap-import cars I normally use commodore heater hoses cut down. They're long, cheap and have 90 or 180 bends in them at one end. Supercheap keep them ont he shelf so you can size them up for yourself and find something that will do the job.
You can also get unicoils to bend straight hose without it kinking.
There's also universal Z hoses in various sizes.
or you could use 90degreee brass fittings from Pirtek etc for bends in really tight places.

Thanks all. I went to supercheap and they had a lot of different hoses on the shelf. I used a 5L VS commodore heater hose, which when cut in two replaces BOTH heater hoses for the price of one. The bottom is the new hose and the top is my old hoses:
