Ah the first FWD bluebird, model series U11. The SSS Turbo wagon came with a sizzling 88kw powerplant. The CA18ET only had two valves per cylinder. Looks like the Series 3 910, but is actually the U11 new generation

Bluebird didn't get AWD until the U12

Kind of interesting in 1985 (especially for a wagon), but considered old tech in just 2-3 years

2 valves are better than 4 for everyday driving
swirl beats tumble every day of the week when
you mostly stay under 4000 rpm.

Yeah we had Sentra wagons, but Sentra is Sunny not Bluebird

8v heads do better from idle to 4000rpm with most cars never really going about 4k
the 8v makes better torque for the street and if done right great for racing.

From a wise man's quote... with the depth of the valves in the chamber correct shaping can achieve very good velocity for quite a way into the chamber, so the incoming charge does not 'stack up' as it drops velocity into the chamber but follows the piston down the bore resulting in most of the mass (& pressure) in the chamber being as close to the piston crown as possible (& as far from the fresh incoming charge as possible) allowing fill to continue well past BDC and assist pressure recovery. You can't do that with 4V heads, that's why they are known as 'tumble & dump' heads, most of the pressure resulting from the incoming charge dropping velocity ends up high in the chamber & impedes incoming charge.

He achieved 142hp per L from a 2v head

twin plugs for sure even better for hemi style chambers as used by Alfa, Abarth and Citroen.

There is an alternative for the 4v heads by using irregular inlet camshaft profiles where
one inlet stays closed until a certain rpm, this can also create swirl if done right.

Yes. On the other hand, most guys here want the most peak HP, even if torque (lower RPM HP) suffers. Couldn't Tony could get more than 142hp/l from 8V head? Even production 4V can make 126hp/l

Thats not any production 4v head that gets 126hp majority of production 4v heads struggle in general
but everyone has to have the 4v heads sales pitch when 2v is fine for most applications.
The engine Tony built competes and destroys other 4v heads and double the capacity v8 race engines so
there it has a torque curve for its size that is superior to all other race engine it competes with.
Even the best NA nissan L6 2v cannot crack 120hp per litre and even versus an Rb26 of any kind that
Bmw engine with 2v decimates them all.
