The Koni rear dampers on my coupe (80-2359) were pretty much past their sell by date and as you all no they are NLA. Tech-Wiki notes that Koni 80-1551 (for 1970-1990 Alfa Romeo Spider) will fit. After measuring full bump and full drop on the 80-2359 dampers it did indeed appear that the 80-1551 would work. The Koni distributor charged me $98 each.

Notes: my coupe uses Nissan Motorsports rear springs (160"lbs) the Alfa spring rate is 300"lbs. the Koni distributor calcualted the wheel rates for me and recommended 1/2 turn from full soft.

The installation was pretty straight forward; the only hitches are the bottom eyelet on the 80-1551 shock is 7mm wider. I had to trim the bushing around 2.5mm, I use nylock nuts on the lower stud and with out trimming the bushing the treads would not engage the nylock. One additional thing that needed to be double check is insuring the shock body clears the spring perch. I've got .25mm clearance. Depending on the set up shims/washers may need to be added to keep the shock body from rubbing against the spring perch. Note my spring perch is the set up from the 1200 suspension manual, which moves the lower stud down by 25mm in order to provide enough suspension travel.

I have an event in 3 weeks so I'll report back on how they worked.

I use Bilstein Daihatsu rocky ones. Similar fitment mod to the bushes but work a treat in my b310. Especially with S13 gab rear springs

Thanks for the info. I wonder if they will work with the 1200 Ute lower shock plate as the stud is larger where the shock slides over
