Whats the strongest factory a series trans?

Hey guys looking for a strong gearbox or trans to go behind an e15et in a 1000. Whats the strongest a series auto transmission available in australia? Im guessing the 1000 manual tunnel will have to be modded/made bigger?

A mate of mine has been running an A15 with twin carbs with a normal
1200 auto with no issues at all,but he’s 65 years old so he’s not into
wheelies or drag racing.Its gives no problems.
Possibly a retro fit vanette auto would do?

The second link describes much larger source cars so I'd imagine good for an E15et boosted to the limit.

Yea seems a tough trans. Wondering what would be better for the drags, 3 or 4 speed. So the 4 speed comes from the sunny? Im thinking with a light weight body (1000 coupe), e15et the 3 speed will be fine

Have a factory A Series auto out of my 1972 coupe. not sure of conditon or KMS.
Located in Sutherland Shire.

At the drags, 4th (overdrive) will never be used. The 3-speed auto is also lighter and likely stronger as it does not have the lockup converter (although some of the later 3-speed had them starting in 1982 if i recall correctly

The 4-speed auto comes out of 1983-up cars, no Sunny had them. Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi had them. There's a list of cars in the tech article

Also the 1200 3-speed is ultra light duty -- I don't know if it will hold up to an E15ET. For example 1st gear in the 1200 version has three clutch plates while in the L20 version it had seven clutch plates!

same 3 speed jatco is behind L6 nissan, so no problems
behind an e15et no matter if it makes 300hp, it will
never have enough torque to break it and just needs
cooler and good oil then forget

Same model of auto, but not the same auto. It is equipped with light-duty parts in the 1200

Ive had many apart from a 120y, gemini, rx7, 240z and Vitara
I had the gemini mixed with the vitara v6 which is the same
as the 1.6 vitara also on the table of Footscray Auto reconditioning
they seem from what they explained to all be the same strength
just have different stall setups to suit the engines matched to them.
The Gemini 1.6 was the same as the V6 vitara apart from stall converter,
oil pressure passages to the stall converter(vitara 4wd unitary transfer box)
bellhousing and output shaft were the only differences found.
Autos are expensive to manufacture, their internals are a work of
art and would be very expensive to have variations in strength.
The internals are mostly the same perhaps the clutches were
made thinner yet never had one fail except from overheating.
Some of us guys playing with them feel the terminology for light duty
and normal duty is a marketing term for different torque requirements
which is all possible with a few holes and different stall from the 3n71
