Nick that is a fine looking Galant, I had one with an Saturn
1.6 with webers and pipes but struggle to crack 90hp atw.
Id love a GTO coupe with 6 bike carbed Debonair Saturn 6
It is basically an LY L6 just reversed in/ex. with 95kw
stock more hp than 1977 bmw first sohc M20 L6.

I should have put purely 2ltr comparo of high revs DD
the late QR25 is a fine motor but its vs Toyota 2.5 and 2.7
donks which are fine things and also can make 190hp and
more torque than the QR and thats only Toyota FE engine
not the GE sports versions which they didnt release but
its the preferred engine for all kinds of racing and won
2015 drifting world title vs mostly $$$$ v8 turbo engines
Now papadakkis was asked by toyota to build the 2018 corolla.

The Beams seems to be easy for rwd as they are already
rwd in the lexus and altessa.

Yeah the Galant started with a fresh Evo motor with Yamaha head but had a few issues with it , so he went for the Beams . He did infact look at a SR. The Beams had a double clutch but he went back to single . Came out OK finished and now has moved to another project.

The QR is really inexpensive to pick up.

Local pallet motor QR25DE is $550.00 USD

Nick is that Galant in Soufrika? also I understand why the Beams its
an easy beast to setup already rwd and here in japan I can get it for
around 400usd engine alone but why didnt he go 4g63? hp too low NA?

QR engine is also very ugly but someone like you Matt could dress one up
for the retro ocassion although quite a challenge, its very angular.
QR is lighter @ 121 kg 267 lbs and shorter length yet my tiny TVR AJP v8
using Al Meling`s F1 architecture and weight has double the hp / torque
sits lower in the bay, looks beautiful and has bugger all wiring.

On a good note for those after an A series 5 speed or QR rwd 5 speed I found
this by fluke which is the best budget option surpassing any other custom
gearbox conversion for any engine out there even for an A series.

These guys do any custom bellhousing cut/shut cheaply to a munchie so Chevy T5
must be used for compatibility and quote insert below from HAMB rodding site
also states the chev t5 has longer input shaft that must be trimmed but prob
what A series needs if going T5

http://www.mazworx.com/store/p/318-Bellhousing-Modification.aspx

Quote:
Hey all, I have been running a Saginaw 4 speed behind my Flathead using an Offenhauser adaptor. The transmission has blown and I am wanting to replace it with an S10 T5. Can someone please confirm that the T5 front bolt pattern is the same as the Saginaw/Muncie/t10 and will bolt to thisvbellhousing? As I am in Australia, and we didn't get this version of the T5 , I will have to import one. Thanks Adam ADAM F, NOV 15, 2013 SHARE POST#1 scrap metal 48 Member from Dayton,Ohio Yes it's the same but you have to drill the mounting holes to 1/2" and shorten the input collar and trim the input shaft.. I have pics of this if you search my threads...

Never seen anyone do this quality for this price on a bellhousing cut and shut
Mazworx would have save the custom scene many headaches years ago compared to
now where old cars are just much harder to find and modify due to their values.

Well at least the option is there for a T5 A series bellhousing, Take note Rallytwit! :)

Even for those after an RB conversion for their big hp SR the T5 option is a bargain.

He did do a Viper V10 in a ute too. The Beams was the 1st time he strayed . He has a mate that imports front cuts from Japan and motors from USA.

Frontier box is a giant boat anchor doesnt suit old datsun lightweight philosophy

420hp 360lbs tq tvr v8 with t5 box weighs 90-100lbs less than a qr with a frontier 6 speed
that extra 6 gear wont pull it any harder in a lightweight datsun
