Hi all
Haven't been on here in a very long time. I have a friend here in South Africa that bought a 1971 Datsun. Don't remember the model name now. But it was a family car back in the day with L24 engine and automatic gearbox.
This car is used for rally cross events where classic cars of the era compete in stages needing to complete different obstacles. Some to mention are drag racing, oval track laps and gymkhana event, etc.
All on a dried up dam surface. It gets quite hot at the event.

Now the problem and I don't know what would be best especially due to the hot temperatures at this event. Mechanical pump gave problems. He replaced with a cheap electric pump but it struggles in the heat. I recommended he go back to the mechanical pump method but he said he can't find one for this engine. Will a L18 one not fit?
Which one would be better in hot weather and used for a carburetor. I don't like electric pumps for this application because what about fuel pressure.Probably will have to fit a pressure regulator. He said the one he currently is using is low pressure high volume.

Use a Facet low-pressure electric pump

L24 and L18 fuel pumps are the same, just do a fuel flow test
