Thats could have been a tired N1?,
healthy stock N1 pulsars up against
newer stock same weight sr20ve pulsars
pipped them in different japanese shows.
I reckon the A12 turbo is awesome and
sadly no one has made a good cast manifold
for them so they would be easier to do.
The aftermarket efi mani some people got
hold off from south afrika would have made
a good setup if both bits were attainable.
I see alot of new cars with 1.2 and 1.4 turbo
engines and they fly, good economy but super
complicated and expensive repairs unlike the
A12 which is so cheap, simple and now proven.
The SR20VE model heads are rare so how long into the
future they can be maintained wont be like A series.
I havent kept up with racing series in Oz but
remember an 808 Simon that was in a different class.
It ran a b6 turbo I think or bp but the B6 heads are
also easily fit on an A series and that lends itself
to a plethora of turbo manis, parts and ecu choices
as per Miata world contingent. I know Rob doesnt do
the kit anymore but its not more involved than the
BMW K1100 head on the Mini A series that many do and
very cheap B6 parts everywhere and Cheaper than Gx heads.
There are many 160kw atw Miatas on the streets worldwide
surprisingly these guys have a proven formula of shaving
b6 heads 2mm!!! mild clean up with cams, itbs or 48mm carbs!
modded dizzie for carbs or many ecu mods/choices, headers etc.
Everyone knows the A15 blocks are proven stout bottom ends that
can fit the B6 pistons for those restricted to datsun engines.
For boost the A12 can be fit with the Festiva/laser tx3 turbo
B series heads as well as other model make using the B series.
So thats prob my choice in the wall of text, a B6 headed A15
with 41-48 mikuni carbs as Im a fossil still scared of lectics,
shaved 2mm head, miata club choise of camshaft for 160kws,
miata club chosen off the shelve headers, stock b6 pistons
on cheap spool h beam rods, aftermarket matchbox ignition etc.
There are a plethora of cheap billet manis for itbs like 4age 20v
and many ecu options as well if you are able to efi.

1200 coupe on the other side of the pond a winner!
