No mention of the KA motor. I've been happy with it. Strong stout motor with lots of potential. Aftermarket performance parts available.
I've been boosting 10 psi and a200hp shot of nitrous and it's been a champ. 👍

Yes with factory-stock reliability the KA24DE is 154hp -- that's more than SR20DE

And getting a KA out of an 240SX means it has a 5-speed and the correct sump to fit right in the 1200 engine bay. Carb manifolds are available too

also forgotten, lighter than sr20 post 2008 qr25de should meet class rules under 2.5
makes sr20ve power, shorter in length, fcc crank now with plenty of AftMarket support

RTR won many races with their early qr25de engine revving to 7500rpm
with the non FCC crankshaft but the post 08 qr is FCC VS V8 race cars.

Quote:
TeamRTR debuted the new Sentra in the SCCA's SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series last May. Within six races, Cunningham put the new car on the pole at Road America, led every lap and won the first World Challenge race for Nissan. Cunningham, a six-time SCCA Pro Racing champion and defending Touring Car series champion, finished fourth in the 2003 season points.

250-plus horsepower no problems for 2.5L no sweat for just over 100hp/L

140hp atw stock, some are getting 170hp atw with cams and bolt ons

140lbs of torque from 2500rpm! 180ft lbs at 4000rpm thats a fat curve

This is not running e85, I wonder what e85 tune would do to a qr25 with 48mm carbs and Nodiz?!

48mm honda vtr1000 carbs are cheap, bought 2 sets for 120usd, 2008+ qr25de with box, carbs and nodiz
probably can cost you 1200usd all up using U- pull-it wreckers, your fab guy can mod sump,
adaptor plate for lighter s10 t5 box, manifold for quad carbs = 90kg/200hp ate and 180 lb·ft.

Guys nothing wrong with the KA but I have to stay under 2.0, liters if I go up to the next class the limit is 3.0 liters. The fastest car in the 3.0 liter class is a 280Z running 300hp at the wheels so the KA would be the exact same situation I'm in now. If I were only doing track days the KA would be a fine choice.

There is a qr20de as well!

but will need the FCC SR20de crank which fits and was available as a kit
in 2003 way before the 2008 qr25de was updated to FCC. Some tuning house
found the sr20 crank fit with little mods.

and surprise surprise.....
Many have found the sr20ve does not have a FCC crank! so many upgrade it
using a cheap sr20de crankshaft.

I am getting the QR20 for the 71 Automatic car I picked up a few weeks ago. The motor looks to be more than the car needs.

The wife hates to drive manual trans.

she wont need to drive soon the way things are going!

whats the qr20 going into? 89mm bores with 80mm stroke
should rev quite well almost 78 mm A12 like.

They are overlooked engines considering their improved
head flow, larger bores than SR but shorter overall
thanks to pressure die casting rather than sandcast.

Id be interested to see what you do for the sump since
they are east west usually fwd and quite tall sump design.
Also timing cover is dystopia Terminator like (not retro)
oh wait you do CNC, Im you get bits of spare alloy around :)

The QR is going into a 71 Coupe with an auto transmission. I bought another coupe along with an RX7 LSD axle and a few other items to bring the car up to a more modern feel.

IT was a barn find survivor with very little rust. Right now its just sitting in storage until my Ford F100 is my daily. Few weeks away...

Off the rails now but would like to import a lat 60s Ford Stepvan
and run it with a Ford 3 cyl 1.5 L Dragon Ecoboost engine.

Fiesta ST -all-new aluminum with cylinder deactivation technology.
200 PS @ 6,000 rpm 290 N⋅m (210 lbf⋅ft) from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm.

Nissan has nothing similar to the ecoboost in performance with
the HR12DDT almost having halve the figures of the Ford yet would
like to see an F100 with dimunitive 3cyl torquing well from 1600rpm
