These carbs and intake appear to be the same. Has H-95 stamp on the bottom of both. One was pulled from A15 H95 head. The other from A15 H89 head which came off of a JDM motor that made it to the US. I was expecting different carburation and intake.

When I bought it my A15 was a California nifty 50 with the shroud port head and a round port intake.

The intake stamp H95 means it is for a H95 head and in my case also used on the H89?? Wonder if the intake was modified?

Intake Manifold H95 does not mean the it is only for an H95 cylinder head. H95 mean it is the Applied Model Code for the casting. The same casting can be used for different manifolds, for example they can be machined differently and if so it will have a different part number (but the same casting number)

* H89 means the part was originally designed for B310 4-dr sedan 1400 & 1500

* H95 I've not seen in an official Nissan documentation but it appears to be parts starting 1978 for the USA (for example the high-swirl, small-oval port head A12A/A14/A15 is H95). Some of these parts may have been used on JDM Nissans. The A15 was was made through 2010, so there's a lot of history there

If both engines were medium oval and with water-heated manifold, I would expect the manifold to be the same casting. There are two of that type, but the other is the G51/G52 low-profile intake used on the under-the-floor Vanette A14/A15 (and cast with a "G" number)

* H89 head has the regular/medium oval intake ports of 28x34mm
* H95 USA head has small oval ports maybe 28x30mm or 28x32mm?

Both use "wet" intakes with coolant passages fed by the cylinder head. Remember the same casting can be machined at the factory for two different-but-similar port sizes

The carburetors will be different -- for 1981-1982 there are at least 15 different carburetors just for the USA .... most of which look the same

Check the model number inked on each carb, it is usually on a flat spot near the float glass, if it hasn't rubber off years ago

To ID the USA carburetor used with H95 cylinder head, see our tech article DCR306 which has photos of the various features

The JDM engines used similar but different model DCH306 which the later ones look very similar to the DCR but are slightly different

In any case it matters not to performance, as (i believe) all A14 should have the performance version with large 22mm & 27mm venturis (some A15 carbs are larger and some A15 carbs are smaller and all A12 carb use small 20/26). You can see the venturi size by looking down into the carb with the air cleaner lid off -- the size is cast in each carb throat

of the literally hundreds of DCH306 carbs, they all have different jetting -- sometimes it is the only difference. Most of the hundreds were used in USA models, whereas in Japan there were only a few different ones. Again it doesn't matter much, as you can bolt on any A14 carb to any A14 engine and it will run OK. You can also also change the jetting to optimize for power or for emissions (the factory jetting had optimal jetting only for full-throttle power, everything else -- like part throttle and cruise -- was tuned for emissions even in JDM models)

What is a nifty 50?

There was an ad for "nifty fifty" B210 but that was for A14 engine. The B310 was rated 47 mpg (A14 + 5-speed) or less in any report or adverts I can find

OK, I misremembered. Sorry for confusion. What I had originally was an A15 with the small oval port head with swirl obstruction. The intake had round ports, not oval. Like this one from the wiki:

At the time I assumed the round port intake was used to enhance runner velocity for low speed acceleration. Since I was thinking of modifying a stock intake for a side drought carb I bought a proper oval port intake when I found my H89 head. The intakes and the carbs are both gone now so I can't get numbers.

Seems there were several versions of each engine type each model year for each regional market.

Thanks for all that DD. The intake ports appear to measure the same around 33mm for both. It has been awhile since I disassembled these motors and wasn't sure which carb/intake was on the H89 head. More interested in the intake. Visually I do not see a difference. I was only able to read one marking next to the float glass. The other one is gone. 306-101?

yeah that's DCR306-101, it has the DCR removable sight glass ...

DCR306-101 1981 B310 FED A15 MT

so it's a USA model (Federal, meaning USA except California)
