Matt I hear you on the long tow; that track is a 6 hour drive for me and I have to say it's probably as far as I wish to go on a regular basis.

As for more race parts that would be awesome as I'm pedaling the little car like a squirrel on large dose of meth. As you can tell I'm losing 5-6 car lengths or more down the longer straights. Of course it is loads of fun dragging the car forward. Dreams of cross flow heads are dancing in me head.................

A cammed mazda b6 headed A16 will send the tears flowing on all your competitors :)

This is my favorite datsun 1200 race car from the late 1920s
probably to much of a handful/deathtrap for the angry types in racing.

you can see hidden disc brakes though in those drum covers

D I'm familiar with that car.

The Mazda twin cam head does routinely spring to mind but how many people actually have one running?

I also have all of the kit components (including the head) to bolt an E-series head on to the A series block but it also requires quite a bit of machine work to the block. I want something that bolts on otherwise I just assume change to a different motor.

speedway guys have quite a few Mazda headed A series
as an alternative to the E series which needs way
more work to get working.

Rob had 2 running one twin cam and one sohc with one
datsun 1000 guy doing one and morris minor guys doing
the others for their morries. Not into Morries but
sure they have updates in their channels.

Robs twin cam 16v 120y was a daily and he stayed at
my place a return 6 hour trip and never had any issues
but ended up selling it for his b3 soch datsun 1000 which
he did up and also sold but revved to 9k rpm

Matt had the motorbike like head Z6 version of the
Mazda head he was going to do but plans changed for
the vortech ohv crossflow. The late z5 head has some
serious potential with just cam grind changes while
on boost stock internals 300hp ate is wonderful so
Mazda is involved in some crazy L4 engine tech since
the rotary no longer was their goal.

A Cross flow cylinder head is still on my list of things to make.

I am running down a Vortech 4 cyl currently as a candidate for my car. Then dress it up to look like a classic Datsun A series since they visually look so similar.

I also want to look at the Vortech as a good model to take away from for the A12 billet Cyl Head
