Hey guys,

So i've just bought a 1200 sedan and it looks pretty original etc it even has the factory spare wheel and jack in the boot.

I'm wondering how I can check if the A12 in it is the factory motor for my chassis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

main forum is where to post all 1200-related stuff

To check if the engine is the factory installed engine look at the engine compartment aluminum ID plate:

example

then check the engine to see if the numbers match (just below #4 spark plug)

Yes it could be missing, it was screwed on at the factory

depends ...

is yours an Australian-assembled sedan? Or a coupe or early sedan? 1200s built in Japan have a normal ID plate

Not sure on Australian assembled, possibly? It's a 1971 sedan

Click this link to read about the differences: Australian-assembled

But if the build plate is missing then there's no way to check if the engine numbers match
