When you get rid of the VVL, how do you lock the cams in the retarded position to get the best high-RPM out of it?

vq30 chain cover can be used to eliminate vvl and give a better old school look

Sold on the NA VQHR 300hp atw! from factory with some pipes
Mate put me through this vid which is a great conversion for the HOnda civic guys that want something cheaper than the K series which is skyrocketing and yet makes no where near the torque of a v6 However these J swapped civics cant crack 400hp atw NA with the J35 with all kinds of modifications yet vq35 unopened except for cams 400hp atw achieved and HR model is already fast enough. This opens up a reason not to ignore any longer all those cheap pulsars from the late 80s and early 90s as a budget nissan build like we used to get with datsuns. Nissan pulsar with maxima vq35hr would be a honda killer. by using a larger small diameter but wider twin scroll turbo at the top will allow an easy single exhaust. However maybe the 60 degree v6 is not such a good idea. Its just theoretical and a reverse bonnet scoop would keep the windscreen from fogging up! Just went back to the 910hp engine "Holden" sports sedan used was a combo or Mazda KL and Suzuki H27 for a twin turbo setup that on further inspection the H27 is like a smaller version of the VQ35DE. The suzuki unit is cleaner looking but there is no doubt the more I see the insides of this H27 version that Nissan just borrowed it and made it larger capacity and added vvl etc. Its uncanny the similarities and yet Suzuki didnt get the accolades from Wards for such a fine effort. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALtWWLFzty8 The Mazda KL weighed around the same as a 4age in race weight. https://www.tsentraal.ee/mx6/engine/SAE920677.htm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cRU12EpsVI [img width=600]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cRU12EpsVI[/img] Theoretically I wonder if its possible to do that to a vq? by swapping the heads left for the right so inlets face down. oil feeds on inlet side of the head can be blocked and oil drain can be done by tapping the back of the heads for rear drainage ![]() 1 piece relatively flat billet exhaust manifold for single turbo from mitsubishi evo with dual inlets. log style plenums with short angled runners to suit inlet ports probably billet alloy as well. Any ideas? or better leave heads as they are and have head work to reverse in and ex valves then swap cams over each bank etc. Tapered angled runners from the sides would allow the engine to be lowered quite deep in the bay but would need custom sump also.

LMAO well after all this talk about how good these new twin cam
efi smart v6 engines are yet limited to only rev under 8200rpm well there is an engine with 4.2L and pushrods that beats the recently world record 600 hp 4.2 VQ stroker race engine! It not only beat it using a carb but it beat it dragging more weight on the crankshaft and revs even higher at 9200! (actually hits 9998 rpm on the dyno if you look closerly!!!!!) Quote: The race team needed an engine to compete in a land speed class at Bonneville requiring a displacement less than 261 ci. Keith decided the best way to achieve this and make a lot of power was to build a 259 ci V6 using a Nascar SB2 V8. The naturally aspirated V6 made 663 horsepower at 9,200 rpm and 393 lb-ft of torque at 7,300 rpm. Fully dressed, the new Pentastar V-6 is 94 lbs. lighter than the 3.7-liter engine it replaced in Jeep Grand Cherokee. Similarly, while larger in displacement, Pentastar weighs 42 lbs. less than the 3.5-liter it replaces in the Chrysler 300 application.
The earlier 3.8 iron block alloy head v6 was listed fully dressed @ 396/400 lbs which makes sense since the Cheyv Lv3 with alloy heads 425lbs but 90 degree v6 therefore likely Pentastar is under the older VQ at around 302-304 lbs There is a turbo derivative by Ferrari/Maseratti now cast by Chrysler https://www.pentastars.com/engines/ferrari.php

295 hp two-stage VVL 11.3 compression ratio lower weight by 4 lbs (326 lbs total) only 260 ft-lb which indicates it makes peak power way above 5250 rpm Pentastar V6 has apparently never had a factory turbo 328 lbs SR20DET 326 lbs pentastar 3.6 313 lbs VQ30 Pentastar, heavier than the SR20 turbo, but still makes more HP You can view topic.
