Hey guys

I’ve had a good search around on here and couldn’t find anyone with the same problem previously.

The standard 56a box shifts fine 1st-4th no worries, selects reverse fine, and will leave first if done quick enough, but if I stay in reverse for more than a few seconds the selector gets ‘lost’ and very stiff and moves in unnatural ways and won’t leave reverse easily, you need to find its normal located and almost force it out, any ideas?

Thanks guys.

yeah, not a common problem with 1200 gearboxes. Sounds like a shift rail pin may be loose/damaged/missing

Thanks dd,

New box time? Or take to a gearbox specialist? Not sure how rebuildable these things are etc.

They are very rebuildable. But may be cheaper and take less time just to get a good used $50 gearbox

The only ones near me are closer to 150-200, though they are saying tested/excellent condition. Would you still imagine this to be the cheapest route?
