I have a FS5W60A 5 speed with worn main drive and counter gears. Are these 2 gears interchangeable with the 60 series 4 speed?

i believe nothing is interchangeable with the 60A. The 60L is the 5-speed built from the 4-speed

counter gear is much longer in the 60A

DD...would you know of any other gearbox that has interchangeable parts with FS5W60A?

Yes the other A-series gearboxes interchange. Same length

For individual parts nothing is interchangeable with the 60A

A little more information ... the 60A came 1980-1982 Datsun B310 (Datsun 210/Sunny). This is the regular shift-pattern five-speed (all the other five speeds are dogleg-pattern shift)

these 60A small parts interchange
* input shaft and mainshaft bearings interchanges with 60L 4-speed and 60L 5-speed
* input seal O-ring ditto
* output shaft seal ""
* snap rings
* thrust washers
* needle bearings
* syncro inserts, couplers & hubs (for three gears)
* reverse/idler bearing interchanges with 280Z
* shift lever plunger & spring same as 510
* reverse checker same as 280ZX
* shift rail checking parts same as FS460L
* synchros for the 60A *may* interchange with others but they have a different part number

These gearboxes interchange with the FS5W60A, direct bolt up -- use same clutch and same driveshaft, although the gearbox crossmember may differ
* FS5W60L dogleg shift pattern
* F5C56A dogleg shift pattern
* FS4W60 4-speed
* FS4W56A 4-speed

This one requires the B210 clutch disk and has larger output shaft
* FS5W63A

Thanks for all that DD. I'll post over in the Classifieds and see if someone has a salvage FS5W60A and will sell the main drive and counter gears.
