No need for insurance, the engine will run and make power with or without the seal. Just depends on how much oil usage you desire. Early 1200s had no seals on the exhaust. And they didn't have visible smoke out the tail pipe until 100,000 miles or so. The rings are generally good for 150,000 miles

The best seals are the umbrella seals as they are most long-lasting. Technically the postive-type teflon seals are better but they don't last as long
