@nickmitty - I see your logic. I have come to realise that but it has taken me a while.

I work for a shed company and often get people who build their own sheds. They take months to put up and they always look wrong (Screw lines all over the place, flashing's not put on etc) all to save $6,000 when buying a $18,000 shed.

Meanwhile a build can do a good job in 4 days.

Well my argument is probably 90% of the fella,s that fancy themselves as a back yard panel beater n painter, wouldn't
have the patients to do ( so far ) 500 + hours of solid work over how many weekends.
A) Like many lose interest
B) Do a half bodged job n rush it towards the end
C) Actually do more harm than good. Not in picking welds, warped
a few panels with the welding and not using the right sealers
Or prepping right.
So for me , time is money. What's 500 hours of my life worth or how much can I make in 500 hours etc. Can I produce the same quality work and probably would take me even longer to do than a
professional .
So to answer the question , the car owes over $20k so far , but I've earned even more over coarse of the same time and I definitely couldn't replicate the quality of work and most of all ,I can't be #OOPS#ed waiting 2 yrs to do it. Lol

Yet there are some that are content to tinker along, I have respect for them too.

Back in OZ in another week and will have heaps of more photos
for you all . As I've kept the build going so far with Ray .

I live in my Datto world extreme level 10.

Finish off the sound proofing, curtains
put it in your bedroom with climate control
add custom futon, stereo/video, flat screem
on the ceiling and get food delivered.
Forget about the outside world

I think the copper stuff is "weld through primer"

I can ask what is used when back as I don't really know

All I can say is if a panel or piece is removed it's rust treated
On both sides and onto anything underneath that can be covered.
Prevention is better than the cure..

Ray uses also lead and wax as a form of filling and anti rust .

Is that copper paint on the panels prior to plug welding? What are you using to rust proof the inner panels? (Sorry if you've already said, this threads moving a bit fast for me to keep up with. had a small amount of time in the shed myself.)

Cargo area done
3 spots of rust to go before tackling, the dents and undercarriage needs to be taken back
sprayed too . Lots of bare metal under there with the new floor.

Off oversea,s for few weeks .
Then will decide storage or not and left the rest
