I am struggling to find a decent tyre to fit my 14x6.5 rims.
What is everyone else running, as the standard 185 60 14 isnt what I want as the rolling diameter is too big.

I would forget using 185 on 6.5- 175 are better.
They end up less squishy and clear most small datsuns.
TOYO made in Japan cost a little more but last way
better than yokohama and available in 50 / 55 series 14.
Hooned on them daily and at Calder they shined.
My datsun 1000 I had to flare/lip my guards but easily
cleared 14 x 6.5 inch deep dished Indys when using the
165/55/14 slightly stretched.

185/60/14 can be easily put on 8 inch rims
I would go 175 but 165 will be fine in 55s.
just compare prices 175 v 165, 165 might be cheaper.

I've also been thinking about this since I have a set of 14" rims to put on the datto. So keen to see what other people use.

185/55r14 is not a bad match for diameter. 7mm bigger which is close. 185/50r14 are about 12mm smaller diameter than stock.

I believe there's options for both sizes but probably with a lead time.

Re: L18
they're off the Aussie R31 Skyline 14*5.5" (Pintara has the same wheels). They fitted well on the front with the Stanza struts, but at this stage I was using the 120Y diff which is same width as 1200, so i had the rear wheels modified to be 20mm deeper dish to fil the gaurds better. I think it had 195/60 R and 185/60 F in this photo. Front gaurds were lipped and trimmed though.

So I ended up going for 165/55/14 tyres.
They are a much better fit and overall diameter fits in the front wheel well much better.

I wanted a big diameter tyre to keep the revs down on the freeway in my a12 120y. My ears were going to fall off in a bloody mess.

I got 14" 200B rims with 165 80 r14. Knocked the revs down almost 1000 but of course the car is slow at take off.
